SHEET 05 / EXPIRY
When the domain expires, every connected route is at risk.
The web server may still exist and the mailboxes may still contain old messages, but DNS can no longer direct new traffic reliably.
01
Renew through the controlling account
Identify the registrar, registrant and administrative contact. Save invoices and status messages during recovery.
02
Expect DNS caches
After renewal, old negative answers can remain cached for a while. Verify authoritative records and then public resolvers.
03
Retest web and email
Check the site, certificate, MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC. Messages rejected during the outage usually need to be sent again.
