Hosting and the domain are separate. Record who owns the name, who can approve changes and where the current DNS zone is managed.

Verify the registrant
Check the registry status and the company account that controls renewal, contact data and transfer actions.

Protect administrative access
Keep recovery addresses current, enable available account protection and avoid tying ownership to a former contractor.

Record DNS before a transfer
A registrar transfer should not silently become a DNS migration. Save the active nameservers and records first.
