A backup is evidence only after a restore test.
A useful copy contains the right data, lives outside the failure it protects against and has a documented path back to a working service.

Back up files and databases together
A content-managed site needs both. Record compatible versions and configuration needed to start it.

Keep an independent copy
A copy on the same server or account can disappear in the same failure. Use separate credentials and storage.

Test a real restore
Restore into an isolated location, open the site, check forms and record the date, duration and missing steps.
